Second grade had a visitor from the Daniel Boone Library last week! We were able to take a picture tour of the library, learn fun facts, get a goody bag, and sign up for a library card! YEAH FOR SUMMER READING!
For Mother's Day, Team Ronzio made tissue paper flowers. We also wrote an opinion piece about why our mom was the best mom of the year! Team Ronzio learned a new app this week...MATH DUEL!
Math Duel is a split screen mathematics game that pits two players against each other on the same device! Change settings for each player to level the playing field. New single player mode is great for fun math practice! Team Ronzio thought of positive words that desribe themselves as well as their peers. We took time to walk around and write a positive word that came to mind when we thought of everyone in our classroom. Check out the awesome members of Team Ronzio! This week, on Monday, in writing, we have been working on what we feel good about and maybe we can change the world. On Tuesday we were saying where Ms. Ronzio is. On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, we kept working on what we feel good about. In math on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we have been working on thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones. In reading we have been working on reading chapter books and some picture books. In science on Wednesday and Thursday we found living and nonliving things and on Friday we played a game.
Since March is national reading month, Ms. Ronzio set up mystery readers to come to room 202 everyday and read. Team Ronzio enjoyed being surprised and reading with our guests. Thank you to everyone who was able to participate in this celebration of reading! **Some of my mystery reader pictures accidentally got deleted. I appologize for those who are not pictured. Thank you for understanding** During the month of March, Team Ronzio worked closely with Ms. Gutshal's class to compete in a tournament of books. Each student picked their favorite book to enter into the tournament. The students were partnered up for the frist round. In the first round they buddy read their books to one another and chose their favorite book to go to the next round. During round two groups of four read their books to one another, chose their favorite to move onto the next round, and then created an opinion wiritng piece. This writing piece was used to persuade others to vote for their book in the next round. As the tournament continued students voted on their favorite book and thought about the positives and negatives of each book that was read. Check out our bracket and winners below.
